GETTING YOUR PRESCRIPTIONHOW TO ORDER SINGLE VISION GLASSESHOW TO ORDER BIFOCALSHOW TO ORDER VARIFOCALSGETTING YOUR PRESCRIPTION. Before you order, you need to have a copy of your prescription. You may already have a copy from a previous test, and providing it is less than 2 years old, or less than 1 year old if you are over 70 years of age, you may use that one to order your glasses from us. These guide lines are laid down by our professional bodies and recommended by joint committees of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians, the Association of Optometrists and the Federation of Ophthalmic and Dispensing Opticians. Alternatively, you could go to your local Optician and have your eyes tested. Following the eye test, your optician is obliged by law to give you a copy of your prescription, and you should not feel under pressure to purchase glasses from that same shop. We also recommend that you also ask your optician to include your pupillary distance measurement or sometimes also called PD in your prescription. See the FAQ on pupillary distance measurement

HOW TO ORDER BIFOCAL GLASSES. Bifocal lenses can be ordered at an extra charge of £ 30 and are for customers who are generally over 40 years of age and require lenses of 2 different powers. As a standard we use D28 bifocal lenses. These are the most popular types of bifocals generally worn. These are 28mm wide “D” shaped segment that are positioned vertically 3mm below the centre of the lens and horizontally are centred on your pupillary distance. If you would like them to be positioned further up or down (higher or lower) then please state on the order. We can also make up D35 bifocals which at 35mm are slightly wider. We will contact you after you place your order to discuss which option is best for you. Just go through the normal order process, and choose bifocal lenses as an optional extra on the “Personalise your glasses” page.
HOW TO ORDER VARIFOCALS. Varifocal lenses can be ordered at an extra charge of £ 60 and are for customers who are generally over 40 years of age and require spectacles for Distance and reading and intermediate distances. A varifocal lens will cater for all these corrections. If you have any questions please feel free to phone the hotline number at 0121 554 4080 and you can ask to speak to an Optician to answer any of your questions. In order to make your varifocal glasses, we have to be able to position the lens centre exactly at your pupil centres. When you order varifocal lenses, we will first send you an empty frame, we then require you to return the frame back to us, together with a photo of the frame on your face. We can then complete your order with the lenses correctly positioned for your eyes.
The photo must be taken with you looking straight ahead, and looking into the distance. The person taking the photo should be at least 3 to 4 feet away from you, further if possible. You must adopt a normal head posture ie do not tilt your head forward or backwards or tilt or turn your head to the right or left. Try to “zoom” in on the face and make sure that your eyes can be seen clearly in the photo. We will send further guidance when you order Varifocal Spectacles.
To order varifocal spectacles simply choose the frame from the selection on the left and go through the normal order process and choose Varifocal lenses as an optional extra on “Personalise your glasses” page.
